Apothecary: Bike City: A Conversation about Biking in Chattanooga

Safety concerns. Fitness issues. Bad hair days. These are among the factors that prevent people from using bicycles as a mode of transportation in Chattanooga.

Our graphic design students in Processes & Materials have been researching bicycle commuting with local Chattanoogans. They discovered the benefits of biking and the barriers that prevent people from wanting to bike in the city. Based on research, the students brainstormed ways to encourage people to bike. In this exhibition, the students will share their ideas in the form of prototypes, roughly built ideas and the messages that accompany them. The exhibition will include participatory elements to encourage the public to continue the conversation.

Do you bike in the city? Are you interested, but nervous? Join us Friday, October 25, 2013 at 6pm to discuss the potential in multi-modal transportation.
