Dr. Anne Lindsey

Professor, Art Education

PhD, Florida State University

Dr. Anne Lindsey has been a member of the department of art faculty since 1987. Her award winning research in comprehensive art education has been sited in numerous books and articles. Additional awards include a National Award for Excellence in Dissertation Research and Tennessee Art Education of the Year in Higher Education. Securing a grant from the Getty Center for Education in the Visual Arts, she was the founding director of The Southeast Institute for Education in the Visual Arts on the UTC campus. These efforts reached schoolteachers and museums in eight states through out the southeast, Japan, and Brazil. In association with this project she developed curriculum materials and directed the publication of several poster reproductions from the permanent collections of four major art museums in the region.

I find no greater joy than seeing the expression on a child’s face as they experience creating and learning through the visual arts. Helping UTC students understand the importance and passion of teaching art, to individuals of all ages, is my professional goal. To this end, my research interests deal with the development of innovative art education curriculum and developing teaching resource materials that support effective pedagogy.
