BA Art Education4 Year Check Sheet
In addition to competencies in art education, studio and art history, the BA Art Education student completes course-work in the College of Health, Education and Professional Studies. The BA curriculum offers programmatic skills and the opportunity to meet specialist certification standards identified by the Tennessee State Department of Education.
The BA in Art Education immerses its majors in the ever changing landscape of educational theory and practice, preparing them to succeed in the field at all levels from kindergarten through the 12th grade. Our professional curriculum introduces students to a broad range of studio experiences, delves extensively into the history of art, and offers invaluable student teaching experience in the field. The Art Education program cultivates a skill set in demand, including facility with communication, analytical and critical abilities, and expertise with technology, all leading to certification through a state department of education. The Art Education major also discovers professional opportunities in less traditional settings. Museum education, recreational and senior centers, and hospitals, to name a few, provide exciting venues for individuals who recognize the value of the visual arts in people’s lives.
